After years of installing ball joints through our Corvette monoball program, we've tried nearly every replacement option available.
We keep coming back to the same one: the 45D2339 lower ball joint. Good fit, good durability, and none of the nonsense we've encountered with many of the aftermarket alternatives.
When we went to order another hundred of these, we were told the usual story: discontinued, nearly impossible to find, and absurdly expensive when somebody happened to have one sitting on a shelf.
So we went upstream.
After a ridiculous amount of searching, phone calls, and supplier sleuthing, we located the Korean manufacturer that has produced this ball joint for GM and AC Delco for years and began sourcing them directly.
No mystery substitute. No bargain-bin alternative. Just the ball joint we've already installed 1000 times.
This recommendation isn't based on a catalog description or a prettier box. Our monoball program has put a large number of Corvette control arms across our benches, which means we've had the opportunity to handle, press, install, and compare a lot of different ball joints.
The 45D2339 is the only lower ball joint we install in our own control-arm assemblies, so it's the one we're willing to sell by itself.
The same lower ball joint fits both the front and rear lower control arms across C5, C6, and C7 Corvettes. There is no separate front/rear part number and no different ball joint required between these generations.
Not every Corvette part requires six paragraphs of engineering explanation. Sometimes you just need the right replacement part and somebody who actually has it in stock.
