The Brey-Krause R-1115 is the C5 Coupe harness bar we trust enough to sell. Built from 304 stainless steel, it mounts at the factory B-pillars, triangulates forward to the rear seat-track mounting points, and provides a purpose-built shoulder-harness mounting structure for C5 Coupes, FRCs and Z06s.

C5 CORVETTE COUPE · BREY-KRAUSE R-1115

A HARNESS BAR IS NOT THE PLACE TO SHOP BY PRICE.

Brey-Krause has been our gold standard for Corvette harness mounting since we opened the doors. We've handled a lot of bars over the years. There are plenty that cost less. There aren't many we'd want behind us when something goes seriously wrong.

WHY BREY-KRAUSE

BEEFY + HEAVY + EXPENSIVE = GOOD.

Pick one up and it becomes pretty obvious where the money and weight went. This isn't a decorative tube whose only job is to keep the shoulder belts from sliding sideways.

A true harness mounting structure has to deal with the loads transferred through the belts when something goes wrong. That's a very different job from simply guiding the webbing behind the seat.

There are cheaper bars we could put on the website and make a few bucks on. We don't. Brey-Krause is the bar we'd install in our own Corvette, so it's the one we're comfortable selling to you.

When the product is part of the restraint system keeping you in the car, “good enough” isn't a specification we're interested in.
WHAT THE BAR ACTUALLY DOES

MORE THAN SOMETHING TO WRAP A BELT AROUND.

The R-1115 provides a purpose-built mounting point for the shoulder-harness portion of a multi-point restraint system while properly locating the belts relative to the driver.

SHOULDER HARNESS GEOMETRY

Put The Belts Where They Belong

Proper belt routing matters. The R-1115 places the shoulder-harness mounting tube directly behind the occupants rather than forcing you to improvise a mounting point farther back in the car.

HARNESS GUIDES

Keep The Webbing In Position

The guides help control lateral movement of the shoulder straps during braking and cornering. They locate the webbing on the main bar—but they are not themselves the harness mounting points.

TRIANGULATED SUPPORT

B-Pillars + Seat Tracks

The main bar attaches at the factory B-pillar shoulder-belt locations. Separate support rods then triangulate the structure forward to the outside rear seat-track mounting points.

THE C5 DESIGN

THREE POINTS OF SUPPORT. NO RANDOM HOLES IN THE CAR.

The R-1115 uses the C5's existing structure instead of asking you to start drilling structural mounting holes wherever a universal bar happens to fit.

The ends of the main tube locate at the factory upper shoulder-belt mounting points. From there, left- and right-side support rods run forward and down to the outside rear seat-track mounts.

It's a simple layout, but mechanically it makes a lot more sense than a lonely tube hanging between two points behind the seats.

  • Type 304 stainless-steel construction
  • Main tube mounts at factory B-pillar locations
  • Left- and right-side triangulating support rods
  • Support rods mount at outside rear seat-track points
  • No new structural mounting holes required
  • Durable black wrinkle-finish powder coat
WRAP THE HARNESSES AROUND THE MAIN TUBE. Brey-Krause specifically instructs that the shoulder straps are wrap-mounted around the main horizontal tube. Do not attach the shoulder harnesses to the belt-guide loops.

FITMENT + IMPORTANT NOTES

C5 COUPES. NOT EVERY C5 BODY STYLE.

THIS BAR FITS

1997–2004 C5 Coupes

The R-1115 is intended for C5 Coupe and Fixed Roof Coupe applications, including the fixed-roof C5 Z06.

CONVERTIBLE OWNERS

This Isn't Your Bar

Brey-Krause specifies the R-1115 for Coupe and Fixed Roof Coupe applications. We do not list it as a C5 Convertible harness bar.

LAP + SUB BELTS

Building A Complete 5-Point System?

The R-1115 handles the shoulder belts. For the lap-belt and anti-submarine portions of the restraint system, Brey-Krause specifies its R-9115 mounting kit.

FACTORY SEATS

BK Recommends A Sternum Strap

Brey-Krause specifically recommends using a sternum strap when the R-1115 and racing harnesses are used with the factory C5 seats.

INSTALLATION OVERVIEW

FACTORY B-PILLARS. FACTORY SEAT-TRACK POINTS.

Compared with some of the later-Corvette BK bars, the R-1115 installation is pretty straightforward. The main tube uses the factory upper shoulder-belt mounting locations and the support rods attach at the outside rear seat-track mounts.

BK's instructions are only two pages because there isn't a mountain of interior surgery involved—but this is still restraint-system hardware, and proper installation matters.

Brey-Krause recommends professional installation.

  1. Unsnap the plastic escutcheons covering the factory upper shoulder-belt mounting bolts and remove both bolts. BK specifies the appropriate Torx seat-belt socket for this hardware.
  2. Position the main bar between the factory shoulder-belt mounting points and install the supplied spacers, factory belt rings and mounting hardware. Leave everything loose initially.
  3. Move both seats forward to expose the outside rear seat-track mounting points and remove the retaining nuts.
  4. Identify the left- and right-side support rods and attach their bracket ends to the tabs on the main harness bar.
  5. Attach the adjustable ends of the support rods at the outside rear seat-track mounting points.
  6. Once the complete structure is correctly positioned, tighten all bolted connections.
  7. Wrap-mount the shoulder straps around the main horizontal tube. Do not attach the harnesses to the guide loops.
