The factory C5 and C6 pedal layout makes a proper heel/toe downshift harder than it needs to be. The AMT Motorsport Gas Pedal Extension widens the lower portion of the throttle pedal so you can reach it naturally with the side of your right foot while maintaining solid, confident pressure on the brake.
It's a simple part. It also happens to make a surprisingly large difference in how natural the car feels under braking.
On the factory pedal arrangement, getting enough of your foot onto the brake while still reaching the throttle for a clean rev-match can require an awkward amount of ankle rotation and leg contortion.
The AMT extension adds width where you actually need it: toward the bottom of the accelerator pedal. That lets the side of your foot catch the throttle naturally while the majority of your foot remains planted on the brake pedal.
The result is an easier, more repeatable heel/toe downshift with less thought and less physical effort.
A good heel/toe downshift lets you maintain braking pressure while matching engine speed for the lower gear. Making the throttle easier to reach means you can devote less attention—and less of your foot—to finding it.
You can keep more of your foot centered on the brake instead of hanging half of it off the side just to reach the throttle.
The widened lower pedal gives the side of your foot a much more natural target during the downshift.
When the pedal is simply where your foot expects it to be, a proper rev-match becomes a much more automatic part of the braking process.
We originally built this thing simply because heel/toe downshifts in a C5 were more awkward than they needed to be.
Then we looked at the data.
In our Watkins Glen testing, throttle blips remained essentially the same—but brake-pressure traces increased significantly in several hard braking zones after installing the extension. Our theory is simple: when reaching the throttle requires less effort, more of your foot can remain properly planted on the brake pedal.
Is it a laboratory-grade A/B test proving that a gas pedal adds horsepower? Of course not. But the data matched exactly what we were feeling from the driver's seat, and the difference was large enough to get our attention.

This is a pedal cover, not a complete replacement accelerator assembly. You do not have to remove the factory pedal or crawl halfway underneath the dashboard replacing the entire mechanism.
Use the supplied drilling template or position the extension directly over the factory accelerator pedal.
Drill the factory plastic pedal using the supplied extension or template to establish the mounting locations.
Install the supplied self-tapping screws and get back to doing more interesting things with your Corvette.
The extension is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and black anodized for a durable, low-key finish that looks appropriate in the factory C5/C6 footwell.
We didn't need to reinvent the accelerator pedal. We just needed to put a little more material exactly where your right foot wants it.
The pedal carries our Lifetime Guarantee, but we're also confident enough in what it does that it carries a Satisfaction Guarantee. If it doesn't make driving your Corvette more enjoyable, take it off and send it back for a full refund.
