These G-Loc pads for your AP Racing 9449 caliper are shipped with the proper 46mm radial depth and 17mm pad thickness. If you have any questions in regards to the proper compound for your application, please give us a call at the office and we'll happily talk your face off about tires and brakes.

Brake pad choice can be as controversial a discussion as politics or religion, but in a decade of testing everything under the sun, we've settled on G-Loc as our go to choice for both factory caliper as well as AP Racing caliper pads.

Why? Because when balancing the metrics of stopping power, modulation, brake pad life, rotor disc life, and consumable cost, G-Loc sits in the Goldilocks Zone. Read below for our take on all of the above, or skip to the Compound descriptions from G-loc for a better sense of what you'll want for your application.

Stopping Power - Guess what? Any modern brake system is capable of locking up all 4 tires at any speed, regardless of what pad you're using. What people generally think of as "stopping power" is actually known as Coefficient of Friction or "Mu" in the brake pad world. The higher the Mu, the less pedal effort it will take to rip your eyeballs out of their sockets. Some people like a pad with a very high Mu so a big toe can haul the car down from speed, whereas some like a low Mu so you need more pressure to stop the car. G-Loc pads sit somewhere in the middle in regards to the perception of Mu, which means they work very well in regards to...

Modulation - Mu and Modulation are related from a "feel" perspective most of the time. If your brake pad has a very high Mu, it can feel like an on/off switch when you hit the brakes. This makes it very hard to maintain proper pressure during the trail braking phase, which is where a whole lot of the magic happens when you're really looking to lower lap times and improve your driving and consistency. We find G-loc pads to have some of the best modulation characteristics of any pad that we've tested.

Brake Pad Life - G-loc pads have pretty decent pad life especially when you consider the cost of the pad itself. You can spend twice as much on pads or half as much, but the pad life of these pads is up near the top regardless of the price point.

Rotor Life - In case you haven't noticed, AP brake rotors have gotten a wee bit pricey in the past few years. Every time you hit the brakes you're chewing up some pretty expensive pieces of iron, so why not use a pad that is easy on your rotors? We would choose to give up some pad life in favor of rotor life every time, and G-loc are some of the "easiest on the rotor" pads you can get.

Overall Consumable Cost - When you consider both the costs of the rotors and pads and the life of both, G-loc will likely be the option that keeps your track budget most in line. While considering the excellent stopping power and modulation characteristics of their compounds, G-Loc emerges as our favorite all-around brake pad on the market.

G-LOC™  GS-1

The G-LOC™ GS-1 is our high performance street compound.  GS-1 produces very little dust and very little noise, while maintaining excellent initial bite and torque for street use.  GS-1 has been unmatched in the industry for disc/rotor friendliness as well as its longevity. This compounds excellent performance on the street provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. G-LOC™ GS-1 operating range starts at ambient up to 800°F (426°C). GS-1 is suitable for ALL street cars, tow vehicle, fleet vehicle, and armored vehicles. G-LOC™  GS-1 is NOT recommended for ANY track use.

G-LOC™  R6

The R6 has been specifically engineered for Autocross applications. An ultra high cold torque compound delivering consistent performance from dead cold (0°F) up to 1000°F + (0°C to 537°C+). The advanced compound matrix provides an excellent initial bite, high coefficient of friction at lower temperatures along with very progressive brake modulation and release characteristics. The R6™ compound is widely used for street use as well, but this compound will more than likely make noise on the street.  G-LOC™  doesn’t recommend street driving on with R6 due to possible elevated levels of dust and noise. R6 is NOT recommended for road racing (closed circuit) use in most applications.

G-LOC™  R8:

A high torque brake compound with a wide operating temperature range of 74°F-1250°F+ (23°C to 676°C+).  G-LOC™ R8 is the first of our extensive lineup of racing compounds. Good initial bite along with excellent modulation and release characteristics. Extremely high fade resistance and very rotor friendly. Perfect for track day use with any tire and can still be driven safely to and from the track. G-LOC™ does NOT recommended R8 for daily use on the street due to elevated levels of dust and noise. G-LOC™ R8 is a popular compound for open wheel type of race cars.  R8 is also used on most Formula SAE team cars, along with shifter karts, dirt bikes, ATV’s, and even Mountain bikes.

G-LOC™  R10:

The R10 has a much stronger initial bite and higher coefficient of friction than the R8.  The R10 compound still maintains our smooth release, excellent modulation and rotor friendliness that have been engineered into all previous G-LOC™ compounds.   The R10 compound leads the industry in disc/rotor friendliness . The R10™ has a broad temperature range that begins at 118°F and a fade resistance is in excess of 1475°F (47°C – 801°C). G-LOC™ does NOT recommended R10 for daily use on the street due to elevated levels of dust and noise.

G-LOC™  R12:

Raising the bar even higher is the R12 compound with an excellent initial bite, high and consistent torque, and outstanding fade resistance over and above the R10.  R12 has a temperature range of 173°F to 1860°F (78°C to 1015°C). The G-LOC™ R12 continues our excellent release and modulation that has been engineered into all previous G-LOC™ compounds. The R12 is slightly more disc/rotor aggressive than R10 but more disc/rotor friendly compared to our competition. G-LOC™ does NOT recommended R12 for daily use on the street due to elevated levels of dust and noise.

G-LOC™  R16:

The R16 is an extremely aggressive initial bite, linear torque curve and excellent fade resistance compound from our lineup of R-Series compounds.  The R16 is a natural progression of the highly successful R-Series line of compounds from G-LOC™.  R16 has a temperature range of 255°F to 2000°F (123°C to 1093°C).  G-LOC™  R16 maintains our philosophy of modulation and release that has been the foundation of all other G-LOC™ R-Series compounds.  G-LOC™ does NOT recommended R16 for daily use on the street due to elevated levels of dust and noise and the amount of heat needed to work properly.

G-LOC™  R18:

The R18 is the pinnacle compound of the R-Series compounds engineered by G-LOC™.  R18 is based on the same successful principals and fundamentals that exist in all other G-LOC™ R-Series formulations. R18 has more initial bite, overall bite, and  even more controllable torque.  The R18 offers the absolute most linear torque curve we have ever created.  The thermal characteristics and coefficient of friction are of the highest offered by anyone in the braking industry .  This revolutionary compound will lead the way in all major forms of racing (professionally and grassroots).  R18 has a temperature range of 610°F to 2100°F+ (321°C to 1149°C+).  G-LOC™ does NOT recommended R18 for daily use on the street due to elevated levels of dust and noise and the amount of heat needed to work properly.
