Brey-Krause has been our gold standard for Corvette harness mounting since we opened the doors. We've handled a lot of bars over the years. There are plenty that cost less. There aren't many we'd want behind us when something goes seriously wrong.
Pick one up and it becomes pretty obvious where the money and weight went. This isn't a decorative tube whose only job is to keep the shoulder belts from sliding sideways.
A true harness mounting structure has to carry the loads transferred through the belts during an impact. That's a very different job from simply guiding the webbing behind the seat.
There are cheaper bars we could put on the website and make a few bucks on. We don't. Brey-Krause is the bar we'd install in our own Corvette, so it's the one we're comfortable selling to you.
The R-1120 properly locates and supports racing shoulder harnesses relative to the driver while providing a structural mounting point designed to carry the loads applied to those belts.
Shoulder harnesses need to leave the seat and reach their mounting point at appropriate geometry. The R-1120 provides a purpose-built structure behind the occupants rather than improvising with whatever happens to be available in the car.
Integrated guides reduce lateral movement of the shoulder belts during heavy braking and cornering, helping keep the webbing correctly positioned on the driver.
A guide bar only controls belt location. A harness mount has to support the actual loads applied to the restraints. Those are very different jobs, and BK designed and tested the R-1120 accordingly.
Brey-Krause had the C6 harness mount independently tested for the types of forces specified for motor-vehicle seat-belt anchorages.
That's the distinction that matters here. During an impact, the shoulder harness loads don't disappear because somebody chose a lightweight or convenient mounting solution. The structure has to deal with them.
Brey-Krause part number R-1120 fits 2005–2013 standard C6 Coupe models and 2006–2013 Z06 Coupes.
Despite the old AMT product title saying “All Models,” Brey-Krause specifies the R-1120 for C6 Coupe and Z06 Coupe applications.
The mounting studs pass through the factory B-pillar sail panels, requiring a 7/8-inch hole on each side. Brey-Krause supplies plastic plugs that can cover the openings if the bar is later removed.
BK lists GM part number 15277640 for the driver-side sail panel and 15277641 for the passenger side if you'd rather modify replacement panels and preserve the originals.
The R-1120 provides the shoulder-harness mounting structure. Brey-Krause specifies its R-9120 kit for mounting the lap belts in the C6.
Once the permanent mounting brackets and studs are installed, the bar itself can be removed by unbolting it and sliding it off the mounting studs. The supplied plugs can then close the sail-panel holes.
BK rates installation at approximately six hours. This isn't a fifteen-minute bolt-on because you're getting behind the C6 interior trim and mounting into the factory B-pillar structure.
The seats come out, the rear headliner and sail panels come apart, the upper seat-belt mounting points are exposed, the R-1120 brackets are fitted, and the sail panels are drilled using BK's supplied template.
Brey-Krause specifically states that proper installation of restraint hardware is critical and recommends installation by a professional shop.

Stainless construction, independent load testing, factory mounting points and a design intended to carry actual shoulder-harness loads. There are cheaper ways to put belts in a C6. This is the way we'd do it.
