Brey-Krause has been our gold standard for Corvette harness mounting since we opened the doors. We've handled a lot of bars over the years. There are plenty that cost less. There aren't many we'd want behind us when something goes seriously wrong.
Pick one up and it becomes pretty obvious where the money and weight went. This isn't a decorative tube whose only job is to keep the shoulder belts from sliding sideways.
A true harness mounting structure has to carry the loads transferred through the belts during an impact. That's a very different job from simply guiding the webbing behind the seat.
There are cheaper bars we could put on the website and make a few bucks on. We don't. Brey-Krause is the bar we'd install in our own Corvette, so it's the one we're comfortable selling to you.
Proper shoulder-harness geometry matters. The R-1130 provides a strong, correctly located attachment structure behind the driver and passenger while preserving the usability of the C8 Coupe.
The bar locates and supports the shoulder belts relative to the occupants, providing a dedicated rear mounting structure for multi-point restraints.
Integrated guides control lateral belt movement during heavy braking and cornering so the shoulder straps stay where they're supposed to be.
The R-1130 retains the factory 3-point seat belt and does not limit seat travel, so installing proper track restraints doesn't mean giving up the normal usability of the car.
Brey-Krause independently tested the C8 harness mount using the available mounting locations against the types of forces specified for motor-vehicle seat-belt anchorages.
Their testing showed that the packaging constraints of the C8 demanded more than a basic single-wall tube. The resulting design uses increased tubing thickness along with a proprietary internal reinforcement structure inside the mandrel-bent bar.
This is Brey-Krause part number R-1130 and is specifically designed for C8 Corvette Coupe models, including the Z06 Coupe. Convertible models use the R-1131. The two bars are not interchangeable.
Installation requires trimming a slot in the plastic sail panel on each side where the bar passes through. No other interior panels require permanent modification. Replacement sail panels can be purchased from GM if you'd rather preserve your originals.
The bar does not prevent use of the stock three-point seat belt, making it possible to retain the normal street restraint system when the racing harness isn't being used.
The R-1130 is packaged behind the seats without restricting normal seat travel—particularly important if the car still sees regular street use or has multiple drivers.
The bar attaches at the factory seat-belt-retractor mounting locations. Removing the seats isn't strictly required, but Brey-Krause recommends doing so because it makes the installation considerably easier.
Because this is restraint-system hardware, Brey-Krause recommends professional installation by a shop familiar with motorsport safety equipment.

There are cheaper ways to hang shoulder harnesses behind a C8 seat. That's not the standard we're interested in. If we're selling you a piece of the restraint system, we'd rather sell you the one we'd trust ourselves.
