The CMS Deluxe takes a legitimate C8 shoulder-harness mounting structure and adds something most safety hardware isn't particularly good at: looking badass. The full main-hoop design, exposed TIG-welded structure and custom powder coat turn the bar into part of the interior instead of something you're trying to hide behind the seats.
We'll save you the sales pitch: if appearance, custom color and the main-hoop design don't matter to you, the Brey-Krause is usually the harness bar we'd point you toward first.
So why does this one still exist on our website?
Because the CMS is still a serious piece of hardware, and it does several things the BK doesn't. It looks dramatically more like a proper race-car structure, you can order it in a color that works with the car, the upper hoop gives you an excellent place to mount an in-car camera, and the whole thing integrates into the C8 interior remarkably well.
In fact, this is the harness bar that's actually installed in our own C8.
The Deluxe version adds CMS's upper main-hoop structure while retaining rear visibility and normal seat travel.
The added upper hoop gives the Deluxe bar a much more aggressive race-car look without turning the rearward view into a jungle gym. In a bright powder-coat color, it completely changes the interior.
CMS designed the Deluxe around the C8 cabin so the seats retain their full range of travel while the bar still places the shoulder harnesses behind the occupants where they need to be.
The upper hoop gives you a rigid, conveniently positioned structure for an in-car motorsports camera such as an AiM SmartyCam instead of fabricating another mount somewhere in the cabin.
Looking cool wouldn't mean much if the thing behind the seats were just decorative tubing. CMS builds the Deluxe from 1.50-inch diameter, .095-inch-wall Docol R8 advanced high-strength steel.
The tubing is CNC mandrel bent and the structure is fully 360-degree TIG welded before being powder coated in-house.
Docol R8 is an advanced high-strength automotive steel CMS chose specifically for motorsport structure. The result is a 24-pound assembly that feels every bit as substantial as it looks.
CMS powder coats the bars in-house and offers a wide range of finishes, including colors intended to closely coordinate with factory Corvette paint colors.
Black works if you want the structure to disappear into the interior. Torch Red, Rapid Blue, Accelerate Yellow or something equally obnoxious makes the bar impossible to miss.
And on this particular design, we think that's kind of the point.
The CMS Deluxe fits C8 Stingray and Z51 Coupe models and is designed around the factory C8 cabin and mounting structure.
CMS also lists the Deluxe bar for C8 Z06 Coupe applications.
The CMS Deluxe does not fit C8 Convertible / Roadster models. Convertible owners should use a Convertible-specific harness-bar solution.
CMS designed the bar to preserve full seat travel with the C8 seating configurations it was intended to support.
The B-pillar lock / seat-belt trim panels require modification where the bar passes through. Unlike the standard CMS C8 harness bar, the Deluxe does not require modification to the upper center-console trim.
Installation does not require drilling or permanently modifying the C8 chassis itself.
CMS estimates roughly an hour for installation for someone reasonably comfortable working on the car.
There is no structural chassis drilling, but the two B-pillar / seat-belt trim panels do need to be modified to allow the mounting structure to pass through.
The Deluxe design specifically avoids the upper-center-console trim modification required by the standard CMS C8 harness bar.

Docol steel, full TIG-welded construction, proper shoulder-harness mounting, full seat travel, custom powder coat and a main hoop that looks right at home in a track-prepped C8. The BK may be our first recommendation if all you want is a harness bar. This is the one you buy when you want the bar to be part of the build.
